At the end of the road down Glen Etive lies this abandoned pier. A pier with a view and a half.

Stob Dearg is the highest summit of Buachaille Etive Mor and translates as the ‘Red Peak” very apt when caught in a late winter sunrise.

At last I had some time to go out shooting after work. I spent most of it in the harbour of Grindavík watching the fishermen bringing home the catch of the day. I didn’t manage to get any decent shot of the action there. On my way home I made a brief stop at this place in Straumsvík, a stonethrow away from the aluminium smelter which greets all foreign visitors on their way to Reykjavík.

I spent way to much time processing this one and may have overdone it a bit. But I enjoyed my self being outside watching the first signs of springtime.

The process is way to long to describe here. But basically this is an HDR of 3 exposures with polarizer filter. I used photomatix for the HDR and then photoshop to work contrast into every part of the image, mainly with curves and some manual blending in of the 0EV exposure.

It’s kinda cold still, but as of a few days ago I’ve started walking to work. And yesterday i started bringing my camera. Today was wonderful. I wish i could capture it as it was, this is the closest i got.

Yeah it’s my mother again

My mother doesn’t have a PC or access to the internet, but she takes some stunning photos with her Finepix, so I offered to display some of her best images here at my account. Hope you like these shots as much as I do, and please leave a comment for me to print and show her. I know it will please her a lot!

After a long snowy and dreary day this past Wednesday, the clouds parted in late afternoon and made for an unexpected winter sunset. Yes, it really was that spectacular.
